Vintage 1940s Ladies Couture Satin Suit

This stunning suit was hand-made for its wearer with impeccable talent and quality of stitch and fabric. It reminds me of Middleburg and the Hunt-club scene of the mid-century, so elegant and classic. Consists of a beaded jacket and pencil skirt in a deep wine-colored satin fabric. Jacket has a large over-sized shawl collar embellished with hand-beaded drops, sewn-in shoulder pads, vanity front placket with snaps/hooks, front button/loop petticoat closure, tiny cinched waist with a slight peplum jacket skirt, buttoned cuffs, exceptional seaming and note that the sleeves are very narrow. The skirt is slightly A-line with side zip+ hook closure, rear long vertical pleat, simple banded waist, unlined. Lovely condition with the following notes: On jacket the hooks in front need to be restitched as they are loose; on the skirt the side snap needs to be resitched; there are a couple of beaded drops missing; there are some dark marks on the front of the skirt – not sure if they will dry clean out but they are some-what camouflaged with the dark color and sheen of the skirt. The following measurements were taken with the garment lying FLAT and recorded in inches, please be sure and DOUBLE the appropriate measurements: JACKET: Shoulders: 15, chest: 18, waist: 12 ½, length: 22, sleeve: 24. SKIRT: Waist: 11 ½, hips: 17, length: 29 ½.
