WW1 HUGE IMPERIAL GUARDS PICKLEHAUB HELMET

S178S, Huge and over-sized, made from wood, covered with canvas, waterproofed with tar paint and gilded gold paint trim. Marvelous detail. It was a souvenir sent home by an American veteran, the late Tom Peters of Northampton, PA, who said it was found hanging from a chain by it's top point in the entrance way of a bombed out military uniform supply store in Berlin on Konigstrasse. It was a great advertising sign in its day. He just couldn't leave it there, so he liberated it. Measures 12.5" wide by 14" high by 19" long. All original, in very good condition, complete and fascinating artifact from another part of the Great War, ship weight is 4 pounds.
